winter morning slop One month from today I will be boarding a plane in Chicago bound for Hong Kong and I am starting to get excited. This will be the first time that I have ever been to Asia and I'm not sure what to expect. I've gone through more than a few guide books, but what they say never compares to what I see with my own eyes. ... There was another unwanted from of excitement for me this morning after I left work. I was driving along in the snow going the speed limit when this car in the next lane decided to speed up. This didn't bother me at all. What I thought was interesting was the fact that the same car had been having problems doing the speed limit for the past seven blocks. Now the driver suddenly discovered how to drive in snow or at least he or she thought that they knew. Instead of going at the speed limit, he or she chose a pace that was well above what was posted and that is where the trouble began. The next thing that I saw was that same car crossing over in front of the car that I had been following. Clearly this was not a planned lane change, because said vehicle was spinning backwards as it moved over. Soon it was completely turned around and I had no idea what was going to happen next. As I was slowing down hoping that the car in front of me wasn't going to crash into me to avoid the other idiot, momentum carried the moron's car backwards into the median where it fishtailed slightly before coming to a stop. Relieved that the self inflicted crash victim didn't succeed in dragging me into their foolishness, I looked to see if the people were okay as I drove by them. From what I could tell in that quick glance both driver and passenger looked shaken but fine. There was no reason for me to stop. |
