double agent spy

A year ago, I wrote that was concerned about getting caught up on the third season of Alias before the fourth started. Today, I find that funny, because I haven't seen a single episode of Alias this year and it doesn't bother me. I lost all interest by the time that the fourth season came to a close. The double agent aspect that had hooked me in the first season had long been cast aside and the introduction of a half sister for Sydney was too much of a soap opera plot element for me. Plus it seemed to me that Jennifer Garner had grown tired of the role and was ready to concentrate on her film career or motherhood.

I'm not completely dismissing the series. I suspect that once it is released on DVD, I will rent them to see what new direction it took, but I am in no hurry. Perhaps if ABC had kept Alias on Wednesday nights instead of moving it to Thursday night this would never have happened. Now Alias has to compete with both Survivor Guatemala and Smallville for my television viewing attention.
