Last night driving to work took on a very different dimension, because there was fog everywhere and it was unlike anything that I had seen in a long time. Not being able to see more than twenty feet in front of my car didn't bother me. Even though my view of the outside world had shrunk to just the lines on the road to let me know that I was moving forward, I didn't feel overly cautious. That may not have been wise, but it made the daily commute far more interesting for me.

I have always been partial to stories that chronicle the rise and fall of an individual be they fictional or real. Pip in Great Expectations would be a great example of a fictional person and T.E. Lawrence would fit the latter category. Now I can add someone new to the fictional list thanks to Stanley Kubrick's film Barry Lyndon. As with most Kubrick films, this one moved very slow, but by the end I was thoroughly impressed by what I had seen. The central character had definite Shakespearean qualities to him and despite or maybe because of his ambition he was defeated in the end.

Earlier this month I managed to purchase some back issues of the current Catwoman run. Ed Brubaker was the first man to put words into Selina's mouth this time around and I like what she has been saying.
