envy michael palin For years, I've enjoyed watching Michael Palin's travel documentaries and wasn't disappointed by his latest called Himalaya. It took me most of the week to watch all six episodes, but they were well worth my time. Once again he showed me a part of the world in a way that most people will never see. Michael started his journey in Pakistan and from there he made his way through India, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and finally Bangladesh over a period of six months. Each one of the episodes was packed with great photography that made me envious and anecdotes that made me laugh. Seeing him ride a train from when the British Raj was new to riding an elephant made the trip that much more interesting. I would so love to walk on the roof of the world with a Sherpa guide, but that may not happen before I die. Oh, I've seen both the Rocky Mountains and the Alps, but as far as I am concerned they pale in comparison to the Himalayas in terms of height and majesty. |
