just another detective I have never understood the appeal of Sherlock Holmes and seeing the final play of the season at the Milwaukee Rep tonight did nothing to change my mind. Maybe when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first created the character over a hundred years ago it was fresh, but now it very seldom seems to rise above cliche. What I did find interesting was the fact that the deer stalking cap, bowl pipe and magnifying glass are all elements that do not appear in the books. They were added later by stage and film productions. |
