bone churchill daybreak When this day started, I made a decision. Despite my salary being deposited into my account, I told myself that I would not spend any money. I would not pay any bills. I would not go grocery shopping. All that I was going to do was relax. It was a good decision. ... One of the first things that I did this morning after spending some time on my exercise bike was walk to the library to return the audio version of the Winston Churchill biography. I had enjoyed it, but was ready for something new and chose the novel The Voyage of the Narwhal by Andrea Barrett. It was a book that I had come across on Amazon and knowing that I did not have enough spare time to read it, thought that it would be perfect as an audio book. Unlike the Churchill biography, this new audio novel is thirteen hours long instead of just six. As to how many days of commute time it will take me to finish is not something that I have calculated yet. I suspect that it will be at least two weeks. Hopefully I will like the book. While I was at the library, I also picked up the first trade paperback of Jeff Smith's Bone. Once again this is something that I have known about for some time, but have never had a chance to read. ... For weeks, ABC had been promoting their mid season replacement for Lost, a program called Daybreak with Taye Diggs. The first reason for this change of mind is that ever since I first saw Taye in the movie Go, I have liked him as an actor. Another reason for sampling the series was the fact that I like the movie Groundhog Day and was intrigued by a more serious version of the same premise. Finally, I saw that Victoria Pratt was also listed as a member of the cast. More often than not I have seen her in science fiction series, so seeing her in a more ordinary role should prove to be interesting. ... Someone at work had been passing around a fund raising sheet for his son. Naturally the items in these brochures tend to be much higher priced than what one would find for the same kinds of products in a grocery store, but there has to be some markup in price in order for the groups selling the items to come out ahead. In the past, I've ordered some frozen pizzas from him, but this year I went with something different. I chose some chocolate chip cookie dough instead. He had brought them to work earlier this week and tonight seemed as good of a time as any to give them a try. So while I was watching the second hour of Daybreak, I could smell the cookies baking in my oven. It was a good way to end the day. |
