the mind robber

Yesterday, I probably sounded grumpier than I had intended, but the lack of sleep had been taking its toll on me. Thankfully the wish that I had made then was granted. Today, I managed to get six hours of sleep, which after two days of only four, was very welcomed. One of the things that made this possible was the weather. When I left work this morning, there was a gentle rain and I was happy to see it. That was just the thing that I needed to help me sleep.

I truly enjoy the Patrick Troughton era of Doctor Who. As Frazier Hines said in an interview on The Mind Robber DVD, the man clearly loved the role and had great fun doing it. All of that pleasure comes across in his performance and makes the program that much more interesting to watch. Plus I love the sublimated hostility between Jamie and Zoe.

As much as I appreciate all of the extra features that the BBC puts on the Doctor Who DVD episodes, I wish that they would release more discs than they do a year. From what I can tell they only issue four a year, but I could be wrong on that count.

At work this morning, I made two new musical discoveries. Albums from both Sarah Chang and Hilary Hahn have now been added to my Amazon Wish List. I stumbled across Sarah in the arts section of the local newspaper. From what I read she will be making an appearance in Milwaukee on her latest tour and part of me thinks that it would be nice to go that performance. Then as I was researching Sarah, I came across another female violinist who also caught my eye, the talented Hilary Hahn.
