ultimate mozart avenger

I had bids on two different comic book auctions, but lost both of them this morning. The books were twenty issue lots of The Adventures of Superman that would have filled some gaps in my collection. Now as much as I would have liked to have won them, I kept my final bid price low, because I already have plenty of other reading options at home. For example, just today a box of Ultimate Fantastic Four books was left at my front door. The regular Fantastic Four book has been less than impressive to me, but Mike Carey seems to be picking up speed again on the Ultimate version and I want to be there for it.

Late this evening I read issue thirty six of The New Avengers, where it is revealed that Elektra is a Skrull and not a human. Knowing the reveal ahead of time did not bother me. I was more interested in the art than the story, because Leinil Yu has a very distinctive style that I enjoy. His line work is unlike anyone else on the scene today and that makes it more attractive to me. Yes, sometimes his people tend to look somewhat skeletal in the face, but one can not fault his expressions.

On the music front, I decided that it was time to add some more classical music to my collection and purchased Symphonies 40 and 41 by Mozart. Now there is no doubt in my mind that my interest and appreciation of Mozart came from the film with Tom Hulce in the lead role. Suddenly this classical composer came to life for me and I enjoyed his music more because of it. So due to that early exposure, I can easily say that I have more Mozart than any other composer in my classical music collection and can recognize his style more readily than anyone else.
