Early yesterday morning I added Rachael Yamagata's new album "Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart" to my library. I have yet to listen to all of the tracks so I can't say whether or not I like it. From what I have heard, she still has her slow almost moaning style of singing that she had in the past. One or two of songs sung in that style are fine, but it does tend to wear on me. One might even call it mood music.

Tonight, I go back to work, but only for two nights. I wanted some time away to start the new year off right. Tensions have been high within the department and I need to remove myself from all of that negative energy. I don't want to sound new age mystical, but being around people who complain almost constantly is so draining on me. Plus the days that I am using are floating holidays so I still have the rest of my regular vacation time.

Last night my wife and I watched a 1939 film called "Remember the Night" with Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. I thought that it was a great Christmas time romantic comedy with some sharp dialogue from Preston Sturges. Part of me wonders what acting couple would be the modern day equivalent of those two people. Do they even make that kind of movie any more today?
