Candles and Cleaning Today's entry has to be the first entry in a long time that I have written after the day was completely finished. Lately I have been writing as soon as I hit the office in the morning and upload when I get home. This means that what happens at night gets put into the next day's entry. Not that this really matters much, because I can do whatever I want to do here. Besides it was probably only bothering me, but I'm not really sure. Brenda has to be one of the few people that I know who cleans on their day off and enjoys it. I swear, she really gets into it. Its all a very elaborate ritual for her and I'm not sure why. What I do know is that I steer clear when she is in cleaning mode. When I got home, candles were burning everywhere to combat the heavy smell of the chemicals used to clean the various parts of the apartment. The kitchen furniture had migrated to the living room so the floor could be mopped and Brenda was camped out on the couch telephone in hand while it dried. After taking a quick look around, I decided to make my way to the computer even though I knew that I couldn't log on, because she was on the phone. Yes, we only have one phone line. We have to take small steps when it comes to the computer. She is now speaking with her aunt again. This is the same aunt who did not like me and caused the massive family disturbance a few weeks back. All is well now or at least it seems to be fine. We will see what happens next. Well, there is a reason for the cleaning frenzy. Friday night is a candle party and everything has to be just right, because my mom is attending the party. This will be the first time that my mom has seen the apartment and of course Brenda wants to make a good impression on her. Nothing really happened at work. I spent part of the day paying bills and another part trying to discreetly read the new Joseph Conrad novel I bought the other night after work. Sadly I didn't get very far into the book, but there is always tomorrow night during the candle party. I could always tell Brenda that I am going to hang out at a local strip joint while the party is going on, but that might not be a good idea. More and more people are at the park when I go there for lunch, but I really don't mind. People watching is a great hobby and makes the lunch hour even better. Hey, I managed to write a fairly positive, yet bland entry for the day.
