Everyday I Write
Don't tell me you don't know what love is when you're old enough to know better
When you find strange hands in your sweater
When your dreamboat turns out to be a footnote and the man with the (mumble, mumble)
I am giving you a (mumble) look everyday everyday everyday everyday I write the book
Chapter one we didn't really get involved
Chapter two I think I fell in love with you
You said that you would stand by me in the middle of chapter three but you were up to your old tricks in chapters four, five and six
I am giving you a (mumble) look everyday everyday everyday everyday I write the book
The way you are
The way you talk and try to kiss me
Laugh we fall apart by paragraphs (this is probably wrong)
All of your compliments and cutting remarks are captured here in my quotation marks
I am giving you a (mumble) look everyday everyday everyday everyday I write the book
Don't tell me you don't know the difference between a lover and fighter
With my pen and electric typewriter
Even in a perfect world where every one was equal
I'd still own the film rights and be working on the sequel
I am giving you a (mumble) look everyday everyday everyday everyday I write the book
Every Day I Write the Book - Elvis Costello
Yes, I am sure that I may have mangled some of the lyrics, but most of the pertinent lines still ring true for the entry. On a more personal note, I moved all of my stuff out of Brenda's place on Sunday. She was not happy. Much talking took place. We are still sifting through various issues.
No, I am not as angry as I sound here.
