The Same Person

It has been said that people are attracted to the same people over and over again and I will admit that there is some truth to that statement. Of the last three women that I have dated, all of them have something in common and I am not talking physically either, because none of them looked the same. Its hard to pinpoint the similarities, but they are there.

There are times when Brenda talks just like Tracy did. On Sunday Brenda said that I go into such detail about things she does not understand that I make her feel stupid. Tracy felt the same way and had said almost the same thing to me when we were seeing one another.

I will freely admit that there are times when I will bludgeon someone with words until they are ready to start crying. Yes, even though I might sound a bit simple here, I can drive a point pretty deep into someone if they provoke me. I am an unrelenting verbal juggernaut, but this is not something that I take great pleasure in doing and try to avoid if at all possible.

Four months worth of aggression came to the surface somewhere between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The first signs came late Saturday afternoon, when we were returning from my parents house. Brenda ended a small argument by saying that maybe she should stop seeing me, because I would not go to theme parks with her. I saw this as being very superficial and this led to a discussion of what bothered us about the other person. She had her complaints and I had mine.

The basic problem is that she is a very controlling person and I am one stubborn asshole that refuses to give unless I feel like it. We are fire and ice and we know it. All of this might seem funny in a sitcom scenario, but in reality it really takes a toll on us.

Then something snapped in me on Sunday and I moved all of my stuff back to my place on Sunday after she walked out on me. Yes, I am very prone to melodrama, but it got her attention. When she returned home, she called me and more talking followed.

Things are different now and hopefully for the better.

For those people familiar with the song The Proudest Monkey by The Dave Matthews Band, I have this vision in my head of a video done entirely with Muppets. The Muppets would have to be more like the ones from the Dark Crystal as opposed to the ones on Sesame Street though. In order for the video to work, they would have to be as carefully crafted as the Mystics were in the film.

African masks reminiscent of the ones used in the skit Harry Belafonte did on the old Muppet show where he sang the Tally, Mr. Banana Man song could be used as a prototype. These masks and some monkeys would emerge from a dark background and just start dancing around a fire. Inside the fire would be some clips of live footage of the band playing their instruments. Or maybe there could be some really bad background lighting circa early Black Sabbath.

Another more light hearted version would have Wembley from Fraggle Rock or a single monkey swaying back and forth to the music with his arms outstretched. Maybe some close ups of his demented face as he falls deeper and deeper into the rhythm of the music. Hey, I think there was an episode where all of them started to dance when a mad piper came to visit.

God, I really need to make a stop animation film or something.

An easy way to make Brenda angry is to call her Red Fraggle. This bothers her, because she has no idea who Red Fraggle is and doesn't know how to react. Then again Red Fraggle had pigtails and ran around only wearing a red sweater and nothing else. As far as I know this is not a look that most women strive for in their lives.

My favorite Muppet skit is the one that I call Telephone Rock. The rocker Muppet makes a call to the operator and starts singing his song. The backup singers appear next to him in the booth for the refrain. Soon the operator can't take it any more and sends a police officer to the scene to take them away. The skit ends with the policeman carrying the whole phone booth away with the band inside still singing.

Rock, rock, rock, telephone rock.

Um, I also like the new video for the Green Day song Redundant.
