Morning Thoughts

One of the first things that I do in the morning when I get to work is start a journal entry. Sometimes I shift through some paperwork on my desk first, but not very often. The journal entry takes precedence over my job or at least it does in the morning. There are the random thoughts that happen during the morning commute and some leftover items from the night before that I use as a starting point. All of these get typed up and juggled into something hopefully more readable.

While I am trying to compose something coherent, I eat my version of breakfast. For instance, this morning I washed down a Swiss cheeseburger with a Dr. Pepper. In my mind, breakfast can be whatever I want it to be and cereal and milk just isn't enough anymore. I also know that if I didn't eat something, I would never make it through the morning.

This morning was one of those few mornings when Brenda had to be at work before me and I was impressed by how easily she did it. She is not a morning person and what makes it even more impressive is that last night she managed to stay awake before we went to bed. Whenever we watch a movie she usually falls asleep and has to ask me how the movie ended. Last night she not only stayed awake, but watched a movie that was over two hours long to the end. Now how wide awake she will be today after work will be another matter.

Rain fell as I drove into work this morning, but I don't mind. If anything it was a day where staying in bed seemed perfectly reasonable even though I couldn't. This June doesn't compare to the wet one that Tracy and I had when we lived together. It rained almost every day that month and put an even greater strain on our relationship.

Work was busy again and I don't think that it is going to change either. This wouldn't be so bad except that Nick is gone all of next week and I might go in tomorrow afternoon to get ahead for Monday.
