Fool in the Park

I can say with complete sincerity that my lunch hour is the best part of my work day. It has become my moment of sanity where I can forget about the daily squabbles and concentrate on things that are more meaningful to me. I find a spot that isn't too sunny, lay out my beach towel and lie down to read my book.

I could have been there for hours just watching the world go by. There I was the fool on the hill or maybe the fool in the park would be more accurate since most of the area is flat. It was great. If I could do that for an entire day it would be great. A day of observation and nothing else. To just sit and watch the world go by around me without me actively participating in what is happening. Time lapse photography comes to mind.

I make it sound as though I want to be a tree, but that isn't what I mean. I just want to be free of everything for a day. I wouldn't have to talk with anyone. I wouldn't have to be anywhere. I wouldnít have to do anything. I could simply just be me. This mood might explain my recent fascination with the space program and going to the moon, because a person can't get any more remote than the moon.

I should really do some more research on the moon. Years ago when I used to use my telescope I bought a book that mapped out the entire surface of the moon and that might be a good place to start. I remember that all of those Latin names made it seem more exotic in some way.
