Perseid Showers Milwaukee may not be considered a major city by some standards, but it is able to generate a fair amount of light pollution. My attempt to see the Perseid meteor shower met with little success. Where I am located I can only make out the brightest stars of the more well known constellations. If had gone to where my parents live, I probably would have had a much better chance of seeing something. The milky way is clearly visible over their house. All that I would have needed was either a nice lawn chair or a heavy blanket to lie on top of on the ground. The only real major sources of light are from the lights on the surrounding barns. Streetlights are not an obstacle. The cool air and maybe some mosquitoes would have been my only complaints. Then there is the small matter of the forty-five minute drive there and the return trip home. If the shower had been closer to the weekend I might have gone. The need didn't seem that great, because I know that there will be other showers later this year. Yesterday's entry was my monthly moment of self doubt that I have to drag out and march around for a time. I said what I wanted to say and now it is time to move to something more constructive.
