Social activities

The rain was falling when I went to sleep last night and it is still coming down this morning. Clouds roll across the sky as my world shrinks ever further into myself. Roll isn't the most accurate word, but I guess that it will have to do for now.

On a productive scale, I guess that I would have to rate today a success. As usual the day began early and I took this time to clean my house some more. Some objects were discarded while others were put away where they belonged. I am still pruning away the things that I don't need anymore. Everything is becoming more open in my house.

Some people have suggested that I move to the east side of Milwaukee where people think that they are hip. I could find myself a loft there and collage one of the walls with drawings and paintings. Coffee would become my drink of choice and I would spend hours talking about art and politics in a smoke filled room. The only problem is that I don't think that I want that anymore. I have moved beyond that lifestyle. Somewhere along the way I became conservative. I may be drawn to melodrama, but I don't need to surround myself with it.

After my cleaning chores were done, I went out and saw the film Rounders this afternoon and I enjoyed it. I only knew a few details about the movie beforehand, so I was able to just sit back and watch. A couple of pleasant surprises included Nick Turturro and John Malkovich. Both of these actors make anything that they are in better.

All of the gambling reminded me of Brenda. Since she is such a competitive person playing cards really appeals to her. Many a Friday night was spent playing poker with Brenda, her aunt and uncle. We only bet change, but this would last for hours. I think most of this love of gambling comes from her mother who makes a weekly trip to the casino.

I went out for the first time in a long time with Miles and Gretchen. We decided to eat a new restaurant and were treated to an hour long wait to be seated. This was followed by an hour long wait for the food that was only mildly impressive. None of this really mattered though. It was still nice to see them and it got me out of the house on a Saturday night.

On the geek front, I managed to recover all three of my Doctor Who videotapes and two of my Neil Gaiman books from them.
