Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

the third trip

I managed to get another three hours of sleep before I went to work, but it wasn't enough. All that I wanted to do was go back to sleep.

Rain fell while I was working and with it came lower temperatures. The wall of heat had been lifted as I walked out of work. The air had ceased to be a solid. Then when I got home cool carpet greeted my feet and I knew that I could sleep in comfort again. The only thing preventing me from immediately collapsing into a deep sleep was hunger, so a few quickly grilled burgers were in order.

The plan was to sleep late so that I would be wide awake for the long drive north the following morning. It worked a little too well, because when I woke I was so groggy that I didn't feel like doing anything. Packing was the furthest thing from my mind. All that I did was load my bike into the back of my car as I decided that the rest could wait until tomorrow.

Going north will be different than the other two trips. The other trips were to places that were new and exciting. Now I am going somewhere quiet and familiar, which is what I need.
