go west young man All camp and silliness aside, I really would like to be able to travel more than I do. The world is so much more than what I see on a daily basis and I want to experience at least some of it before I die. So many people seem to be content with the small part of the world that they inhabit, but that isn't me. They keep saying that the world is a smaller and smaller place, but I seem to see most of it through magazines and television. National Geographic is like a drug for me. Glossy pages with photos of people and places that I will probably never see in my life. My desire to travel isn't because I hate where I live. No, actually I like where I live and think that it gives a solid starting point to compare other places. I was partly right about catching some fallout from what happened Sunday morning at work. The problem that I had caused grew into an even bigger problem and was still being worked on during the day. No one said anything to me directly, but there were a few cautionary emails in my inbox from my boss and the person in charge of the application that I damaged. The blame wasn't completely on me, but I could sense the head shaking and finger wagging. When these kinds of things happen, I have to wonder what the rest of the department thinks of me. My third shift counterpart jokingly says that I am the scapegoat of the team and I can see that to a degree. Quite often they give me something brand new to do and they aren't quite sure how well it will work. Then to add more confusion to the mix, I have a tendency to take more chances than I should at night by going beyond what I was told to do. When I finally woke at five in the afternoon, I grabbed something to eat and sat back in time to watch Change of Heart. The premise of the show appeals to me. A couple that has been together for a few months decide that they are having problems and maybe should try dating someone else. The program gives them that opportunity by asking them what they are looking for in a date and then finds that person for them. Once each member of the couple has gone on their dates they come on the show and tell what happened in front of the audience and their current partner. The reactions that these people make are what make the show. I'm not sure how many people usually get to see who their former partner has found to replace him or her, but here is it five nights a week. After both members of the couple are done talking they have to make a decision. Do they want to stay with the person they have been seeing for whatever length of time or has this new person given them a change of heart. Sometimes these expressions are even more revealing than the inspection looks earlier in the program. The verbal barbs are over and a quick flip of a card can change their lives. Then again this is the chance they take when they go on the program. The remaining four hours before I went to work were filled with some more television, some computer time and a quick shower. Then I was off to work under a full moon with the car windows down and Over the Hills and Far Away on the radio.
