Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

epic mondays

Standing outside on my porch at quarter after three in the morning I stared at the moon until the clouds blocked my view. Wrapped in my recently returned coat to shelter me from the wind, I felt alive watching things beyond my control happen. At first the waning moon had been visible in a small circle of sky free of the drifting clouds. Then ever so slowly the clouds moved in front of it and cast the ground beneath me back into shadows.

I truly love the night and sometimes wish that I wasn't working at that time. Then again if I was working a first shift job I would probably be sleeping at that time and miss it anyway.

After starting or ending my day on such a sublime note, the rest of it quickly went downhill. Lying down for about two hours at five in the morning may not have been the best thing for me to do, because lethargy quickly took over and I was in a daze of self pity for most of the day.

I truly doubt that anyone can manage to piss away a day as well as I can.
