Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

no more war

Since my Sunday ended at three in the afternoon, this entry may be even shorter than the one I wrote for yesterday. I hope not. On the other hand, I imagine that these short entries make the journal a once a week easy read.

In the early morning hours at work, I left Paul Berlin and the rest of the squad behind in the jungles of Vietnam. It wasn't until I was almost finished with the book that I was able to realize that most of the book was a what if scenario that Paul Berlin was imagining while he was on watch. At least I think that is what I was supposed to get from the book. I was never sure which parts were really happening to the characters and which parts simply happened in the mind of one of the characters. Despite my confusion, I still liked the book and might read another one by O'Brien.

After work this morning, I finally purchased a new bookcase. It might still be one of those pre-fab kind, but at least it looks better than some of them. Besides as of right now I can't really afford to buy something made of real wood. At least I'll have a small project to keep me busy for a few hours and I'll be able to get the piles of books off of my bedroom floor.
