The Wife and I cut out from our respective jobs early yesterday to finish up our Christmas shopping and to catch The Two Towers, if we could. And we did. We went to the Prytania early in the afternoon to get tickets for a prime-time showing. There was a line. When we got there for our movie there was a line. When we left at ten o'clock there was a line. That's going to be one successful motherfucker of a movie.

And did I like it? All the way through it I was saying to myself, "I don't love this the way I loved the last movie." But then at the end I was all like, "fuck yeah! That fuckin' rocked!" See, The Rings trilogy is one of my all-time favorite books. Or group of books, I guess. Whatever. This is because at heart I am a big dumb geek just dying to wear Spock-ears at a sci-fi convention. I quell these urges, because I know they're not cool.

Anyway, I love the books. Love 'em. And I usually reread them once every year or so, and I have since I was in sixth grade. So I know the source material pretty well, and there were some pretty big changes made - but not really. See, the movie does some shit that goes completely against what happened in the book, but by the end of the movie it's all turned back around and going the way it should. Plus they completely invented some shit and put it in there, too. But it all made it better.

I want to see it again. And maybe again after that. And then I want to own it so someday I can sit down on a Saturday and watch all three movies back to back and wallow in my own crapulence.

In conclusion: thumbs up!
