I'm looking for a position that allows me to use my talents in web development, computer technology and writing.

 

Education

 

College - I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas (Conway, Arkansas) in May 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in journalism.

 

High School - I graduated from West Memphis Christian School (West Memphis, Arkansas) in May of 1990. I was ranked eleventh in my graduating class.

 

Experience

 

July '00 – May '03: Department of the Interior – Minerals Management Service (contractor). With MMS I was responsible for the day-to-day updates of documentation on the corporate intranet. I’ve also designed numerous websites, as well as creating graphics and writing copy for online and print publication. Additionally, I performed software testing on a variety of database software - primarily Oracle. This job requires me to have a medium/high level security clearance from the United States Government. The position required extensive use of FrontPage, Photoshop, SourceSafe and various file transfer and networking utilities.

 

Feb. '00 – July '00: Concord EFS, Memphis, Tennessee. With Concord EFS I contributed to the design and production of several in-house web sites as well as working on e-business sites for Concord’s clients, utilizing Dreamweaver, Photoshop and various file transfer and networking utilities.

 

June '98 - Feb. '00: Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division, Memphis, Tennessee. At MLGW I served as webmaster, maintaining both a high-traffic web site (http://www.mlgw.com) and the corporate intranet. As an employee of the Corporate Communications department I interacted with the public at Division events, assisted with public relations activities and handled some technical support for the department. In addition, I trained employees on use of the internet and gave personal instruction to company executives.

 

Mar. '96 - June '98: American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, Cordova, Tennessee. In my position as Electronic Document Technician at AALAS I maintained a web-site (http://www.aalas.org) and the Fax On Demand system. This required skills in document conversion, graphics manipulation, a knowledge of HTML and familiarity with both the Mac and PC platforms. I also performed layout and publication design duties for the IS department, as well as copywriting and editing for the Publications department. At AALAS, I gained a thorough working knowledge of Photoshop, PageMaker, assorted HTML editors, Netscape Navigator, Ofoto and MacLink Plus.

 

Jan. '95 - Mar. '96: CPS Chemicals, West Memphis, Arkansas. At CPS I held three different positions. In the Document Control office I handled, created and updated sensitive and confidential records. This position also required extensive computer work which gave me a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Lotus for Windows and File Maker Pro. In the safety department I worked as a safety clerk, keeping several databases on-line and up to date and handling all safety-related paperwork. I also worked as a shipping clerk, which involved both shipping and receiving products and extensive computer work with PICK, an inventory control system.

 

Oct. '94 - Jan. '95: Stan's Photos, Memphis, Tennessee. At Stan's I was a lab technician and responsible for processing both color and black and white prints.

 

Jan. '94 - May '94: The Scroll, Conway, Arkansas. As a copy Editor for the Scroll - the yearbook of the University of Central Arkansas - I was required to write, edit and lay out pieces for publication. This position also gave me extensive experience using the Macintosh computer system for desktop publishing jobs, including using PageMaker, Freehand and scanning software.

 

Aug. '91 - May '94: Public Affairs, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Arkansas. This position had many different facets, including assisting the university photographer with darkroom work, supervising the university's main auditorium and doing every sort of office work imaginable.
