Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

spring is here

I had the heavy door to my porch open for most of the day to let the sun stream into my house. It seems like such a simple thing, but at the same time it was so nice. It was the first time in months that I was able to do something like that without worrying about cold drafts making their way through the house.

If it wasn't for a few patches of snow here and there on the ground, I might have thought that it was May instead of February. People were driving around with their car windows down and just enjoying the weather in general.

Not only has it been warmer for the past few days, but I've become more and more aware of how long the days are getting. Soon daylight savings time will begin and then spring really will be here. Maybe I am ready for winter to be over, but I might be rushing things for Wisconsin.

Ever so slowly I am trying to learn as much as I can about Italy from the books that I got the other day from the library. In my mind Italy is a place that seems to go straight from the Renaissance to Mussolini and I'll be the first to say that that image is a little skewed.
