Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

more planning

Late this afternoon I made it to the library to do some more research on my trip to Europe. I hadn't been there since I picked up the books about Prague, so it felt good to be back. This time I focused on a different part of Europe and after about an hour and a half of being there, I walked away with some books on Florence, Rome, St. Petersburg and Venice.

I guess my biggest problem at the moment is trying to limit my options or decide on what I really want to do and see while I am there. I only have two weeks or slightly more to be there so my time is definitely limited. I am also fairly certain that things will change once we get there so I know that I need to have not one plan but a couple of backup ones as well. I know that I didn't put as much effort into planning the Nova Scotia trip, but Canada is more in reach than Europe. I would like to say that I'll go to Europe again next year, but I can't say that with certainty.

A slightly odd thing happened to me as I was standing in line waiting to have my books checked out. A small girl about three years old bundled up in hat and mittens wandered over in front of me and just stared. When I say that she stared at me, I mean started. Her expression never changed, not even after I smiled at her. I have no idea what caught her attention, but this little girl just stood in front of me and kept looking at me. Her grandma thought that it was cute, but I wasn't sure how to react.

Now if only grown women would wander up to me and stare into my eyes for minutes at a time, then life would be pretty interesting.
