learn what you can

Yes, despite the lack of entries for the past two days, I am still alive. Not only am I still alive, but various topics have been milling through my mind. The problem is that I just haven't been able to get them into words. All that I have at the moment are some fragments that don't make much sense. I had hoped to upload a reworked version of them today, but last night at work I had my busiest night in weeks and it didn't leave me much free time to write. So I hope to have something more here later today after I get some well deserved rest.

Surprisingly I still managed to work out after work before I came home.

...

Sleepy observation that I made on way home from work this morning. The color green seems so much more vivid to me when the sky is overcast.

...

I've made some subtle changes to my sleeping schedule the past few days. Rather than staying awake until noon or later, I've been going to sleep almost immediately after getting home. So with the extended daylight I still get a full day in before I have to leave for work.

Until last night I was just thinking how stress free my life has been lately. Work certainly decided to change that for a few hours. The strange part is that all of it will be forgotten by next week.

In the world of information technology, a person can never have all of the answers. At best they can hope to have enough of them to get them by in their job. So to combat this effect most people guard what they know and try not to let anyone else edge them out of their little niche. Naturally this is my opinion that I have formed in my six-year career in said field.

Another thing that I noticed is that all three jobs had some of the same faults. Poor documentation and retroactive training would be at the very top of that list. Learn by the seat of your pants is another popular practice that for me has lost its charm over time. Personally I prefer to have a better idea of what I am doing when a problem occurs than fumbling for hours on end.
