Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

whirlwind tour

Most of today was spent sleeping and I don't regret it either. About the only thing that I had planned on doing was getting together with my brother to talk some more about the trip, but it didn't happen. For the past few days, I have been making photocopies of maps and prices from some of the travel books that I got from the library and I wanted him to see what I had found. I've been emailing him stuff, but it would be nice to speak with him in person.

Instead of talking with my brother, I did get to chat with my parents for a few minutes on the phone. It seems that my dad is still hobbling around with his broken foot and my mom thinks that my brother and I are going to be racing through Europe. I can see her point, we will be moving pretty fast through the various countries, but I think that we'll do just fine.

Now I'm debating whether or not I should buy a guidebook to bring along on the trip. The ones that I've been getting from the library are rather helpful and it would be nice to have something more organized than my stack of photocopies. When I went to Nova Scotia last I brought one with me, but it never left my hotel room. There is no way that I'll be seen walking down a street with my nose buried in a guide book. It just isn't going to happen that way.
