Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

It was another manager free Saturday night at work and I loved it. Well, I probably would have enjoyed it even more if I hadn't been so tired. For some reason I only got about three hours of sleep during the day Saturday and my ass was dragging for most of the night. I had tried to nap before I went to work, but I couldn't because my downstairs neighbors decided to make as much noise as possible from nine to eleven and it made sleeping next to impossible.

Sometimes when that stuff starts to happen I feel like being just as loud when I come home at eight in the morning on a Saturday and Sunday. I start to ask myself why should they be able to sleep late on the weekends when I can't sleep during the week. Then I realize that this is being petty and I just let it go.

...

After getting some solid sleep in today, I made my way to my parents' house to see my brother. I wanted to talk some more about our trip and see if he had any new ideas to share. It was the first time that I had seen or spoken with him in weeks and thankfully we agree about most of the trip. We both felt that we would have to sacrifice going to Rome due to time limits. What this means is that I won't get to see the Sistine Chapel, but by not going there we'll be able to devote more time to other cities. The city of Florence was also taken off of our itinerary. Hopefully the city of Venice will be enough of Italy for us.

Eliminating most of Italy means that I may not get to see any Michelangelo sculptures or frescoes, but I should still be able to see some Rembrandts, Van Goghs and Vermeer paintings when we linger in Amsterdam for a couple of days.

...

My brother had just returned from his two weeks out of the year duty with the army and I was pretty impressed by what he had done. I've never riden in a tank or fired a machine gun nor do I really want to do either of those things, he however did both while he was at the base. Those kinds of things are not a part of my world and I don't think that I could make them fit either. I guess the fact that he like doing those things makes his commitment to the army for next five years easier to handle.

...

There are still so many things that I need to do before I leave on my trip. I need to have my car tested for emissions and then have the oil changed. I need to buy film and or some disposable cameras, because I don't want to drop my sister's camera in one of the canals in Venice. I need to tell the post office to hold my mail for me while I'm gone. I need to sign up for a class in the fall, because it'll probably be too late when I get back home. I need to leave a key with my parents so that they can get in my place to water the plants. I also need to get a new pair of sunglasses and some sunblock.

Now having said all of those things I am wondering if I am forgetting anything.

...

Only six more months until Christmas.
