Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

thunder no lightning

Ann called this morning before I left work. She had been scheduled to come in early, but she decided that she wanted the extra sleep. It would have been nice to see her one more time before she left town for a few days, but I could see her point. Still it was nice to hear her sleepy voice.

It wasn't until after I hung up the phone that I realized that I had seen her every day of this past week except for Monday. For me this is usually overkill when it comes to people, but not with her. I can't seem to get enough of her. Even though I had just seen her seven hours earlier, the thought of not being able to see her for days changed my whole mood.

Instead of our usual three hour conversation on Sunday morning, I drove home staring more at the sky than the road.

...

Overcast skies and falling rain made it easy to fall asleep this morning. When I woke late at night the quiet seemed odd, but it may have been what I needed.
