Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

my summer vacation

On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I would like to apologize for any and all comments made by Sue another resident of the state who burst into the media spotlight after being on the overly hyped television show called Survivor.

I also feel compelled to point out that not everyone that lives here talks like her. Even though I have lived my entire life within the state, I do not sound like her nor can I affect that odd accent that she utters without any shame. Most articles that I have read call it a broad vowel sound, but I like to think of it as a classic example of Southside Milwaukee which I avoid like the plague.

...

Being a student again has improved my self discipline. Time is very important to me now and I try to get the most out of it. What I am trying to say here is that I have completely eliminated any television viewing from my daily routine. At most I get to see the weather before I leave for work. I'm not saying that I watched massive amounts before this week, but watching ten minutes a day is even better.

...

I have a feeling that I might be one of the oldest if not the oldest person in my class. On the first day we had to do the usual get to know one another kind of exchange. Not only were we supposed to mention our student rank, but we were also encouraged to talk about something exciting that we did during the summer. Most of them are either juniors or seniors getting ready to wrap up their undergraduate career which leaves them very little time and or money to do other things. For them summer was mainly working. As for me I got to quietly tell how much I enjoyed a month in Europe.

I don't feel guilty either, because I did my time. When I was an undergraduate I didn't study abroad. Nor did I have any money. I was poor and spent my summers trying to scrap together enough money for tuition. Now having endured seven years out in the real world without the accompaniment of a hip soundtrack, I earned that trip.

I knew that Yahoo took over Webring some time ago, but I was waiting for the word to come down from on high as to what silly changes they want to make so I can have an excuse to bail out. I think that that time might be coming soon.
