you sit there In almost every class that I have attended in my college career, there always seems to be some kind of social dynamic going on when it comes to seating. What I mean is that everyone picks a seat on the first day of class and that is generally where they remain for the rest of the semester. This class is a little different though. Every so often someone will sit on the opposite side of the room from where they usually sit and since the class is small this tends to throw everyone else off slightly. I have yet to do this, but I am thinking that if I ever want to start a conversation with J Crew girl than that would be the best way to go about it. Yes, it all sounds very junior high, but I can't keep sitting across from her all of the time, because that won't get me anywhere. Eye contact is one thing, but talking is definitely a higher form of communication and might get me a little closer to my goal. Another thing that I have noticed about the class is that it always seems to be the same people who talk and I happen to be one of them. Normally this would be fine except for the fact that the people that talk the most tend to collect on one side of the room leaving the other side virtually slient for most of the time. ... Despite the advent of an early sunset the warm weather makes winter not feel as close or at least that's the way that it seems during the day. Once night fall so does the temperature. The tree in my backyard is always one of the last to give up its leaves for the season, but it too is starting fade now and fast. Piles of leaves line the street waiting to be hauled away in the middle of the night. Soon people will be looking for snow so that they can have a white Christmas and then all that we are left with is the cold and the wind. ... Something happened to me today that made me feel old. There was a message on my answering machine from some girl named Angie. When I heard her say her voice I was a little confused since I don't know anyone by that name. Then as I listened some more I learned that she was calling from my alma mater looking for a donation. Sigh. It's been seven years since I graduated, but I still have to wonder if these people know the ages of the people that they call. ... Ann still enters into my thoughts now and then. I wonder how and what she is doing. I wonder if trick or treating went well with her daughters.
