tuesday thoughts

Quiet. So quiet and still dark with the sun having yet to rise. I woke up from the couch less than thirty minutes ago with the television flickering in front of my face for the past eight hours or so.

The package that I had been waiting for most of yesterday finally arrived at five in the afternoon. I shouldn't have been surrprised, since I seem to be on the last part of his delivery route. Once it was here, I quickly went to to work. Inside it was my new birthday present to myself, a dvd home theater system.

Everything was nicely color coded and I was finished after about twenty minutes of moving furniture around and spreading speaker wire everywhere. Soon I was ready to give the electronic marvel a proper test drive, but I lacked one thing. I didn't have any dvds, but that was partly my fault. I guess that I could have run to the local Blockbuster and rented one earlier in the day, but I didn't.

Eventually I settled on using the Dixie Chicks concert on television as a test subject for the sound, which worked well enough. Something about that concert struck me as odd. I don't think that I have ever seen a larger group of girls in spaghetti strap tee shirts and cowboy hats. It almost felt as though it was required clothing for the evening. Frightening.

I will admit that the three of them do know how to market themselves.

Now that I think about it some more, I remember starting the day by watching Faith Hill perform on the Today show. My unexplained interest in all of these country music women is starting to worry me here. Although I will confess to watching an episode of Austin City Limits now and then. Something about that close atmosphere really appeals to me.

...

I am addicted to the lists that people make for Amazon. Maybe I should start to make some of my own.
