back to reality

There was a small downside to the past five days which is to say that my sleeping pattern was all over the place. To give an example of what I mean, I've been waking up at three in the morning and then falling asleep at eight o'clock at night. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a first shift schedule or is really a very modified third shift one. Whatever it might be, it isn't my usual habit.

My gut feeling is that I would need a month to undo the damage that I have done to my internal clock when it comes to sleeping. For the past two years, going to sleep at around noon is what works best for me and I don't see that changing any time soon.

There weren't any problems when I was in Europe, but I also think that the time difference and the sheer excitement of being there also played a factor. For now however, I still get very hungry at three in the morning and do a heavy amount of yawning at noon.

For the first time in weeks, I saw a play tonight. Actually it'll be the last play that I see this year. It was something unknown to me, but it was part of my season package so I couldn't complain. All that I knew was the title and that it had something to do with three men arguing about a painting.

Now having seen the play I guess that I can say that that is fair, but for me it was much more about wordplay than anything else. People in life never seem to argue as well as they do in plays. Everyday people just aren't that clever.

In reading I've been dividing my time between Ford Madox Ford's The Good Soldier and Sandra Tsing Loh's Depth Takes a Holiday. Personally I don't think that I could have picked two choices further apart on the literary spectrum. The odd part is that I like both of them.
