soaking sunday rain

Last night at work I mentioned the bluegrass band Nickel Creek to Ann and she told me that her dad was really into bluegrass when she was growing up. In fact he was into it so much that they went to various festivals around the area devoted to just that kind of music. I can certainly see her doing that sort of thing as a child and I amazed that even after a year I keep learning new things about Ann.

Despite her hostility towards work, Ann still has a pretty good rapport with me which makes my job easier. If we didn't have that kind of connection I think that my job would be a living hell.

...

The weather forecast had said that there would be steady rain for most of the day and from what I saw that was correct. It was raining when I left work. It was raining when I fell asleep this morning and it was raining when I woke up this afternoon. None of this bothered me though. I needed a day where I could just relax and sleeping while its raining is perfect.

...

I have to confess that I have reached a saturation point with the media. Oh, I'll still get an update here and there, but at work I turn off the television. I don't need to hear a continual onslaught of tragedy and its repercussions. I care, but at the same time I can only take so much. Besides I was never much of a media junkie.

As of now it doesn't look as though my sister will be going anywhere yet. One military unit here in Wisconsin volunteered to go the Middle East, but that didn't affect my sister directly.

Tomorrow I'll be spending the day in Chicago.
