east side travel

Some of my recent anger with work started to fade by the time that I made it home this morning. The night itself wasn't that bad, but at the same time I am getting tired of the stagnant routine. So to alleviate this feeling I requested some time off next week and that should work wonders for me.

After a three-hour power nap I was off to the east side of Milwaukee. The twenty-minute drive is pleasant enough and ends with me gliding along the shore of Lake Michigan. Something about all of that water makes the drive worthwhile. I also find it funny that I see the lake more than I did when I lived in the city.

Since I got a late start to class, I found that my usual seat had been taken. Now I know that I've talked before about the idea that once a person picks their seat in class very seldom does it change during the semester. For some odd reason people get used to being in one spot and I still find that habit to be amusing.

Sitting in another spot did however work to my advantage. Having to move brought me closer to classmate Kelly. I keep trying to think of a better alias for her, but have yet to think of something that matches her personality and or appearance. What I mean is that J Crew girl was a perfect match. She had the look, but I often wondered if there was anything else there. I never really found out.

As I predicted the class discussion of the Ethan Frome film was a lively one. After hearing most of the comments, I would have to say that the general consensus was that it was a bad film. Some people objected to exaggerated walk of Ethan while others could not stand Arquette as Mattie. Most of the people saw her as being far too sexual for the role and or childish.

As people filed out of the room, I patiently waited until Kelly was ready to leave. She seemed happy that I waited for her and conversation wise we picked up where we had left off last Tuesday and went forward from there.

Both of us had had nice Thanksgiving holidays and found out something that we have in common. Neither of us is fond of large holiday gatherings where the formality gets in the way of the enjoyment. For example both of us were happy to wear jeans on Thanksgiving. Yes, I know that some families just lounge around and gorge themselves, but I also know of other families that make it a dry run for the big Christmas dinner and or event where new clothes are debuted and so on.

The two of us talked and talked as we made our way outside. The cold made her gather her coat closer to her body as we moved along. Then I could tell that we had to part ways. She had to move her car before her next class and I had to make sure that mine hadn't been ticketed.

Each and every time that I go to class I park on a street that says that it is a two hour parking zone during the day. Well, my class is ten minutes shy of two hours so once I factor in some walking time, I usually end of having my car there for two and a half hours. I don't worry that much since I have been doing it for three semesters now, but I do know that they check. I have seen the parking police trolling along and even found my tire chalk marked one time.

Well anyway Kelly and I parted before we could make any more plans. To put it another way I didn't ask her out yet, but I think she could tell that I wanted to do so. Next Tuesday will probably be the day that it happens.
