snow fence horizon

Sunday ended without me falling asleep on the couch, which was a first since I moved here. Oh, I had fallen asleep earlier in the evening during the X-Files, but I woke a few hours later and dragged myself to the bedroom. It was a nice change of pace.

Today started with a clear view of the sun and any hint of the fog from yesterday was long gone. Once I was awake most of the day was spent working on projects for school with the collection of short stories The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie being the main focus.

...

Today was also one of those rare days where I didn't speak to another person. It wasn't something that I intentionally sought to happen, but it did. Oh, I did call Summer, but the line was busy when I called. As to what I might have said had she answered, I don't know. Hearing her voice for the first time in a month might have made it hard to talk.

...

When I wasn't looking someone put up a snow fence across the road from where I live. It makes sense. My place is located on a hill or ridge with very little protection from the wind. Drifts of any height are easily imaginable.

Winter in general should be different for me this year, because this will be my first winter outside of the shelter of the city. There may not have been many places to put the snow, but at the same time drifting and or blowing was never a problem with the houses so close together. Now where I live, I truly am at the mercy of the elements.
