dusting of snow

So I finally finished the paper and now I can do whatever I want again. Oh, there is still the matter of my job, but Tuesdays and Thrusdays are mine. For at least a month there won't be any more assignments to do or lectures to hear. There won't be any class discussions, nor will there be any new people to meet. Sigh. Something tells me that winter break is going to feel like a long time.

Somehow I don't think that I felt this way when I was an undergraduate.

...

We got one step closer to having a real winter. Snow was not only in the air here, but it also managed to stay on the grassy parts of the ground. We are still a long ways away from having a white Christmas, but I guess that it was a start. Then again a year ago we already had fifteen inches of snow by this time of the year.

...

Christmas might be less than a week away, but I can't say that I have gotten all that excited yet. I guess that I don't expect to be jumping up and down, but at the same time I keep wondering when the holiday mood is going to catch up with me. When I put it that way I make it sound like a disease that I seem to be avoiding.

Actually I'm not sure what to expect from this holiday season. Yes, I have presents to wrap this weekend and there is the rather large Christmas tree in my livingroom, but it all seems so far away to me. Maybe that warm and fuzzy feeling will start to set in sometime this weekend.
