violent mood swings

If I had written this earlier it would have made Ann sound even more insane than she usually does here.

Last night when I walked into work I could tell just by looking at her that she was in the midst of yet another personal crisis. I did not want to get involved and kept my distance. My suspicions were confirmed when there was no response to my simple hello. She just kept crouched low on the telephone and never looked in my direction. Personally I think that I would have preferred for it to stay that way, because when she did start talking to me none of it was pleasant.

The hostile conversation went as follows:

Ann: Do you know where I can get a cheap airline ticket to Norway?

Me: No.

Ann: Well, what site were we looking at the other day?

Me: Uh, I think that it was Expedia. I don't remember, besides I usually use a travel agent.

Silence.

There was a work related question that I asked her and I got a terse response follow by:

Are you angry with me? I don't have fuckin' time for this shit tonight. Don't do this to me now.

Okay, time to leave the room and see what the rest of the building looks like and hope that the mood changes when I return.

When did return she left shortly afterwards mumbling something about having come into work early. Goodbye.

...

Half an hour later when another coworker arrived we started to piece together what must have caused this emotional storm to erupt in my presence. Our first clue was that her photo of the man from Norway was no longer on display. Not a good sign. It seems, we thought, that the man of her dreams had fallen from some lofty pedestal of hers and all those around her were going to pay. Besides why else would she need just one ticket? She must have wanted to send him off immediately rather than waiting for his ticket to go back in January which was the original plan. What makes this even more odd is that last week Friday she told me that the two of them were engaged.

Okay, time to review. One week they are engaged and then the next week, he is going back to Norway.

...

In true fashion for Ann, I got all of my answers tonight. Yes, he was on his way back home. She had taken him to the airport earlier in the afternoon and then come to work. It was his idea though, not hers. As to what will happen next is beyond me.
