less people around

Since I had family over yesterday and I was so tired, I didn't go online at all yesterday. I think that that was a first for me in weeks. I wouldn't say that I am lost without the online world, but I do tend to use it on a daily basis. Sometimes I check practical things like my bank account and the weather. Other times I just want to read some journals or check the latest news in the world of comic books. Then other times I'm ordering things through Amazon or eBay. Finally there is the need to read email. Something usually makes me log on at least once a day if not more.

Christmas Eve was more subdued this year. Rather than my dad's side of the family getting together, it was just my immediate family for the evening. That side of the family would be coming over Christmas Day instead this year.

I think that I almost liked it better with just my immediate family. Sometimes having that many people around feels awkward even though they are related to me. Maybe I just wasn't in the holiday mood.

Of course this is also the first Christmas Eve without my dad's dad and he certainly could keep the stories flowing.

The movie Chocolat was very disappointing. Months ago when it was in the theater I had tried multiple times to see it and now I am glad that I didn't. I would have been very angry if I had paid more than I did for the rental.

I guess that it was meant to be a fable of sorts, but it was very predictable and preachy to me. It was men versus women and hedonism versus Christianity. Maybe it was meant to inspire people, but I found it to be insulting.
