moving ever faster

It was the first play of the year for me tonight and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. The appeal of Eugene O'Neill's Anna Christie is beyond me. None of the characters were that interesting and I kept wondering why anyone would care about what they said or did. Then there was the dialogue itself, which kept me wondering why all of it sounded so hokey.

Seeing Deborah Staples take another lead role was nice, but her love interest in the play had a horrible fake Irish accent and was painful to hear. Other people in the audience seemed to think that he was funny, but it was lost on me. Then to make it worse, the other lead male character was just as awful with his Swedish mannerisms.

The best thing that I can say about the play was that the sets looked great as usual, but that doesn't say much for the people moving around on them.

As busy of a week that this was for me I know that next week will be just as busy with the first day of class on Tuesday. After all of the complaining that I've done about work the past few weeks and saying how much I missed school, I'm not that excited yet. Maybe that will change once I go to class. I hope so.

I think that my post holiday season spending spree has finally come to a halt. With an excess of Christmas money at my disposal, I've been hitting the online auction world on a much too frequent basis. Thankfully I think that that mild addiction has come to an end.

I did pick up and start to read a copy of Jonathan Carroll's Kissing The Beehive, but I haven't been able to form an opinion just yet.
