a nagging cough

Yesterday was one of those days where it looked as though it wanted to rain, but then never did. So instead of a day filled with sun, we just got gloomy overcast heat. I should have been thankful for that kind of a day, because today the sun was out in full force and it had to be the hottest day here since I got back home. Of course this also meant that this was the first time that I turned on the air at my place. Thankfully it worked fine and I needed it.

Maybe sometime late Wednesday I started to feel slightly off from my normal self. Then when I got home this morning, I knew that it had happened. Someone had given me a cold. It wasn't the mucus expelling kind, but that sore throat and almost continual headache kind. Basically I felt miserable enough that all that I wanted to do was sleep and sleep I did. I probably slept the longest and the best since I've been home and felt slightly better before I went to work tonight. When I wasn't sleeping I was lying as still as possible on my couch reading.

...

Jen and I had made plans to go out and eat so that cut into my final hours of sleep, which would have been fine except for one thing. We ended up playing tag instead of eating. She thought that I was at one restaurant when in fact I was waiting at another one. Sigh. We never did meet up and ended up cursing one another until we made contact by phone. Since I don't own a cell phone, the confusion wasn't over until I got home and had driven twenty-two miles out of my way. It seems funny now, but at the time it wasn't. Thankfully I was right and she was wrong.

The photos at the front of the site have been from Denmark and I might eventually upload all of them into a single directory, but I'm not sure yet. I have a tendency to move things and then end up with broken links down the line. What I will do is try to upload a new one every couple of days and slowly move forward through my trip. I also have many stories that I need to tell about what I saw and did while I was there. I just need to put them into words when I get the chance. Today I just couldn't think straight with the cold keeping me down on the hottest day of the year.

Europe is still very much on my mind and I miss that hectic pace of life when I am on the road. Yes, there were times when I was tired, hungry and unshowered, but it makes my current routine seem positively pathetic. Going to work is so boring and I feel as though I am wasting my life again. I so wish that I could shake that awful feeling and or at least be able to explain it to other people without them thinking that I am weird.

Watching a couple of episodes of Globe Trekker doesn't help either. Seeing people exploring the world and doing what I can't do drives me insane. Justine is still my hero in that department and even watching Estelle in Rome was interesting.

Honestly if I could afford it and had the vacation time, I would head out tomorrow on another journey without looking back.

Oh, I finally weighed myself at work and discovered that I lost seven pounds from my trip. That doesn't bother me and I certainly put some tone back into my body. Personally I find it funny.
