the prometheus plume

Last night at work I got some quality time with Nicole and it made my night that much better even though I only saw her at the beginning of it. Maybe a little time with her would have taken the edge off from the previous night, but I'll take my time with her when I can.

At first she looked as though she was too tired to talk, but as I was about to walk away saying that I would talk with her later, she came to life. Soon she was her usual animated self and I had to stop myself from getting too close to her. Her stories are always worth my time and just being with her makes me feel good.

It seems that she has reached a conclusion about her fiance. Before this week she thought that she picked up after both him and her son. However with the fiance gone for a week, she noticed that she wasn't doing as much cleaning. In fact more than once she saw her son throwing something away rather than letting it lie on the floor or wherever. Sigh. Of course I might get to hear a slightly different version from her fiance when I see him later.

I still can't decide if the two of them are going to last or not. Sometimes they act like the stereotypical married couple, but that isn't always a good thing. Then again what do I know about long term relationships. I never seem to get past a year.

There are times when I wonder what the two of them would be like now if they hadn't met three years ago. I also have to wonder if they think the same thing themselves, but I suppose that that is just a waste of time. The past is the past and it can not be changed.

I just try not to let myself get too attached to her.

...

It may have been the hottest day of the year so far, but I have yet to see the local news since I've been home so I don't know. It doesn't matter though because I slept comfortably through most of it. Personally I have no desire to melt in the sun and would rather catch the edge of the heat rather than the worst of it.
