another hot one My weekend started today and I was definitely ready for it. Oh, this past week at work wasn't that bad. Actually with my boss on vacation last week, most of the work week was stress free. It's amazing how well I can do my job without someone asking me what I am doing and or telling me how to do it. I like to think of that as independent thought and the ability to manage one's self, which is something that the company seems to discourage. I am not looking forward to this week at work when my boss returns. Nicole was in a good mood this morning and that was a great way for me to end my day at work. In fact I stayed half an hour later just spending time with her. She may not love me, but she still can make me happy just by being her. As to whether she is happy is another story. I teasingly asked her if she's going to get married next year after she quits. At the moment her fiance says that since they work in the same department, they can't be married. She replied that she isn't a dreamer. ... I resisted the urge to spend the day lounging in my parents' pool. With school taking up part of my weekend, I needed the extra time at home. Without too much effort on my part, I managed to ignore the heatwave outside and get some things done inside. ... On the pop culture front, Alias has replaced The X-Files as my Sunday night television viewing. Tonight happened to be a repeat airing of the episode with Quentin Tarantino that I saw months ago. It was that episode that first hooked me on the show. ... Early this evening I got a phone call from a female friend of mine. It seems that yet another marriage has given way. She said that her husband will be served the papers this Friday. Hearing this news wasn't a complete surprise. She had mentioned some problems the last few times that we spoke and she had had enough. Of course that doesn't mean that this is over yet. Sometimes I truly wonder why people even bother getting married.
