Once again Austin City Limits has served me well. Last week that simple little program that can bring me so much pleasure, introduced me to the Canadian band Blue Rodeo and now I'm downloading as many songs as I can find. It doesn't matter that they've been around for years and I've just discovered them now. Actually that works in my favor since I have multiple albums to choose from at one time rather than waiting for them to release another one which they are doing next month.

Various reviews that I've read have mentioned The Beatles mixed with Bob Dylan and The Band when trying to describe the sound of Blue Rodeo. Other people mentioned include Elvis Costello and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Most of that makes sense to me, but I don't need to classify their music to know that I like it. For me switching between two very different lead vocals gives them enough of a unique sound that I wish that I could describe.

In class today I found out that I'm not alone in thinking that the professor is anything but straightforward in his teaching style. A small group of people around me were confused as to what we should be learning in the class. Most of what happens in the lecture doesn't exactly resemble the assigned reading. Oh, he will make references to some of it, but I still don't know what will be on the exam and neither did these other students.

In the Albee play that I just saw Sunday night, one of the characters says that men live for two reasons, money and death. It got a good laugh, but as the female character went on to say it does make sense on some levels.

I was going to say more about that topic, but I ran out of time.
