the southern hemisphere

After being shoved into the background for far too long, I finally got to work on my New Zealand vacation for most of today and it was time well spent. Reading about the country and what it has to offer makes it more real to me and it should be a great way to start next year. Naturally I wish that I was farther along in my planning, but my free time is so limited these days.

New Zealand in January has a major tradeoff to it. It may be the warmest time of the year for that part of the world, but that also means that it is the busiest in terms of vacationers. I have yet to decide if that is a worthwhile trade, because I loathe crowds of tourists. Then again I don't have that many options left with school and I need to get away between semesters.

Right or wrong I keep thinking of New Zealand as the more subdued and or sophisticated version of Australia, which I am sure would probably insult natives of both countries. What I mean is I can't think of any loud mouthed comedians from New Zealand that made a movie about coming to America. Nor can I think of any inane catch phrases that were spawned in New Zealand.
