Birthdays have certain expectations built into them and quite often they aren't met. I guess that that was what happened to me today.

I had been hoping for a stress free day, but I let a couple of things get to me. One of them was school. Usually that has been a source of pleasure for me, but the administrative part of it has always been a nuisance to me.

Next semester is still undecided and it has very little to do with me. The selection of classes that I need is limited which I had suspected would happen. What makes this worse is that I need the permission of one professor to take a class and this same person has a very bad habit of not returning email or phone messages. Sigh.

My second problem of the day was my still floundering vacation plans. Once again people that have answers to my questions don't seem to want to return my email and telephones messages.

Before I went to the play I had a feeling that I wouldn't enjoy it. Agatha Christie has never appealed to me and I've sat through more than one episode of Mystery on public television trying to see the draw that her work and mysteries in general have for so many people. The genre does not interest me at all.

The acting was capable enough, but the story itself nearly put to me sleep and I am not exaggerating. If I could have slumped a little lower in my seat, I know that I would have dozed off. Keeping my eyes open to the intermission was a real struggle and learning the identity of the killer was the last thing on my mind.

As I was looking around at the other members of the audience during the intermission, I wasn't that surprised to see that I am still on the younger end of the crowd spectrum. There was a large variety of receding hairlines and expanding waistlines wandering around in seasonal sweaters. Don't young attractive twenty and or thirty something women go to the theater anymore? Okay, there were a few there, but they were usually accompanied by someone.

...

My niece told me that she is writing three more installments of the Star Wars saga. It seems that there will soon be episodes ten, thirteen and fifteen to enhance the story. Somehow I have the feeling that she could do a better job than George Lucas. I wonder if the fact that my niece is six will hurt her chances of being taken seriously?
