the vacation continues

Day seven of my vacation was another stress free one which is all that I wanted. I may not be somewhere outside of the country, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to relax.

I only ventured out of the house once today and that was to get some food. If there hadn't been that need I never would have left my cozy little shelter. During that brief contact with the outside world I was shoved into the holiday madness and that was more than enough to send me back home in the space of half an hour. The holiday masses can get along just fine without me.

The main drag near my home was packed with cars making their way to holiday sales or something. If they weren't there I would swear that the rest of them were at the car wash. With the temperature above freezing for the first time in days and a warm sun out to keep it that way, it seemed to be the place to be. Waiting in line to get my car washed was not high on my list of things to do. My car could stay salt white until it got less busy.

Actually until Jen and I went out to eat on Sunday, I had been blissfully unaware of the impending madness of Christmas. Oh, I had seen the holiday decorations appear on businesses and homes, but I didn't get the full assault of Christmas songs and crowds of down jackets pushing their way through a store. I didn't miss it either.

...

Looking back a year ago I can see that I didn't like the play that I saw last December either and it was for some of the same reasons. The next two plays of the season are more modern and I am hoping that they'll appeal to me more than this last one did.
