early memorial day

I hope to be on the road soon and probably won't be back home until Sunday. My destination for the next five days lies three hundred miles north of where I live, but is somewhere that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Going there wasn't something that I had planned on doing until it was suggested to me by my sister a week or so ago.

Before noon I want to be walking by the lake listening to the wind blow through the trees. Once I am there I will be free of my everyday concerns. It'll be wonderful.

Five days away from the city is something that I need and will give me some much needed down time from work and my usual routine. It may not be overly obvious by what I write here, but I need to slow down for a while. There hasn't been much time for me to think lately and I miss being able to construct more than a paragraph or two.

While I am away all that I want to do is read some books, ride my bike a little and rest as much as possible. Soon I'll be far away from city lights, computers and a large part of modern society. That may not appeal to everyone, but I never said that I wanted to be just like everyone else.

I haven't been to where I am going in over a year so I am curious to see what has changed since I was there last.
