weird western tales

One of the first things that I noticed when I came home this past weekend was the change in color. Everything is so much more green where I live than in the northern part of the state. Oh, the weather was great while I was away, but the color was lacking. Most of the trees were nearly bare and that made everything seem pale and lifeless. Quite the opposite is what I see when I look out the windows of my place. Best of all is that the red maple in front of my house is completely full and once again my deck is hidden from view.

While I was out shopping for a birthday present for my niece this afternoon, I was treated to a gentle yet visually interesting rainstorm. For the longest time the clouds just hung there full in the sky with the humidity rising. Then ever so slowly they opened and down came the rain.

...

Over this past holiday weekend, my niece came across a stack of my comic books and was lost in them for hours. Naturally I can completely understand how that could happen since the same thing happened to me over two decades ago. So knowing that she liked them getting her some for her birthday was my plan for today.

I didn't succeed.

The books that she was reading aren't current anymore and I don't want her to get hooked on something that has already ended. That meant trying to find something current that would appeal to her and not offend her mother. It seems that her mom does not approve of the Harry Potter line and I can see her objecting to a large part of the super hero stuff being offered today.
