some natural fireworks At seven thirty this morning a storm front rolled through the area. It wasn't something that I was expecting, but I couldn't ignore it either. The sound of the wind blowing against my bedroom window was strong enough to wake me even though there wasn't any thunder or lightning to go with the wind. Then when the rain did start to fall I was wide awake standing at the window watching. After two nights of poor sleep, I was determined to have at least one night of healthy sleep on my weekend, but nature intervened. I was so very close to having that happen when the storm brought that to an early end. Then again seeing debris being blown across the ground was an exciting thing to see when I first opened my eyes. ... Rather than going back to sleep after the storm had passed, I decided to watch an episode of The X-Files for the first time in weeks if not months. The one that I chose was the season finale of season six, the last season that I own on disc. Even though the seventh season has been available for months, I haven't gotten around to purchasing it. After the episode ended I realized how much I missed seeing the program on a regular basis. Okay, it may be silly to get too emotional over a television program, but it isn't everyday that one can hear a connection being made between Navaho writing and inter stellar travel. Obviously they played fast and loose with science, but the great writing still outshines most of what exists on the small screen today. Plus there was the ever alluring Gillian, who seems to be keeping a low profile since the show walked into the sunset. |
