shooting gangster style

Two to three day gaps seem to be the pattern here, so I'll just highlight some of what has come and gone in those missing entries. Friday for me was The New Yorker talking about Katherine Hepburn and Saturday was Ingrid Bergman and Gregory Peck in the psychological murder movie, Spellbound. Today, however, had nothing to do with the Hollywood of yesteryear, but was spent in the pool for part of the morning. I'm not sure which of the three activities I preferred the most.

When I was watching Spellbound the other day, I didn't know at the time that that was what I was seeing. I didn't know it was Hitchcock and Dali on the screen. The only reason that I kept watching was because of Bergman and Peck. Seeing them was enough to keep me from changing the channel.

Not only did I miss seeing the opening credits, I also managed to miss the famous dream sequences so I can't even comment on those parts of the film. What I did see didn't really impress me though. Bergman seemed stiff and I almost laughed at the ending with the gun. Maybe if I saw it from the beginning, I would have liked it more.

I usually like Hitchcock, but I tend to prefer Rear Window to The Birds and Dial M for Murder over Psycho.

Vincent D'Onofrio in Law and Order Criminal Intent is my new hero. He may or may not have much input when it comes to his lines, but the way that he delivers them is amazing. The man has style.
